Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov congratulated the leadership of South Ossetia on the recent state holidays and the successful conduct of the presidential elections, emphasizing their full legitimacy. He made these remarks during the talks with the Republic's Acting Foreign Minister, Akhsar Dzhioev.
"The elections were conducted in a completely legitimate manner, without any violations. International observers confirm this fact. We will continue close cooperation with the government of President Marat Kambolov to deepen our allied relations," the head of Russian diplomacy has stated.
Sergey Lavrov also expressed gratitude to South Ossetia for its solidarity and support for the special military operation, as well as for assistance in organizing voting for the Russian State Duma elections within the Republic's territory.

The parties discussed issues of security and stability in Transcaucasia. A trilateral meeting involving the Abkhazian Foreign Ministry and focused on the Geneva Discussions is scheduled as part of the current agenda.
