Georgia was proposed a new option for joining NATO

Georgia may join NATO "without Abkhazia and South Ossetia"

Former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen believes that the Georgian authorities should consider joining the alliance “without Abkhazia and South Ossetia,” RIA Novosti reported.

The resolution of territorial conflicts is one of the criteria for joining NATO. However, after the armed aggression of Tbilisi against Tskhinval in August 2008, Abkhazia and South Ossetia gained independence, which Russia and a number of other countries have recognized.

The deputy working group will study the state border of South Ossetia

Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia Alan Tadtaev at a meeting on Tuesday instructed the Chairman of the Committee on Defense and Security, Atsamaz Bibilov, to create a deputy working group that will deal with issues of the state border of the Republic.

The Speaker instructed Bibilov to invite all the people who were involved in border demarcation at different times to inform the current deputy corps about the work carried out in their time.

The works of the South Ossetian artists will be presented at the exhibition in Abkhazia

Artists of South Ossetia are invited to participate in celebrations dedicated to the 26th anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia 1992-1993, the Chairman of the Union of Artists of the Republic Tamerlan Tskhovrebov told the news agency “Res”.

According to him, about 40 works by South Ossetian artists will be presented at the exhibition in Abkhazia, during the celebration of Independence Day (Liberation Day) of the Republic.

“The exhibition of works by Ossetian artists and craftsmen will take place in the Central Exhibition Hall,” he said.

The issues of control of the state border of South Ossetia are exclusively in the competence of its authorities, - Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia made a statement in connection with the situation on the borders of the Republic and the reaction of Georgia.
The statement says that, observing the current unstable situation in the neighboring state, it becomes obvious that the Georgian leadership is tempted to try achieving domestic political goals by maintaining constant tension by organizing new provocations in the region.

"Apparently, the lessons of 2008 began to be forgotten by new generations of the Georgian rulers," the Foreign Ministry emphasized.

Anatoly Bibilov - to the Ambassador: people of South Ossetia are grateful to the leadership of Russia

President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov met with Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, the presidential press service reports.

The head of state congratulated the Ambassador on the 11th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation, and also addressed words of sincere gratitude to the leadership of Russia for their careful attitude to South Ossetia.

Speaker of the State Duma expects that Tbilisi will provide materials in connection with accusations of the genocide of Ossetians

The State Duma is counting on cooperation with Georgia in considering the appeal of the South Ossetian Parliament on the genocide of Ossetians by Tbilisi, said the State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.

"We hope that Georgia, for its part, will help and build communications in considering this issue. The accusations are very serious, they should certainly be based on reasoning, objective events, we will study all this," Volodin told Russian journalists on Monday.

South Ossetia and Syria: opening embassies and prospects for cooperation

The issue of opening Syrian embassies in Tskhinval is on the agenda in Damascus, Foreign Minister Dmitry Medoev said at a press conference in Tskhinval.

Syria recognized South Ossetia on May 29, 2018. Immediately after the recognition of South Ossetia by Syria, President of the Republic Anatoly Bibilov paid a visit to the SAR, documents were signed that laid the foundation for bilateral relations, and this process is ongoing.

The Foreign Minister has remined that the other day the South Ossetian delegation has returned from Damascus, where it took part in a serious event.
