The non-use of force will be the key issue at the upcoming round of the Geneva Discussions – Shpeti

The issue of non-use of force is one of the key issues on the agenda, the OSCE Co-Chair Christoph Shpeti stated at the briefing in Tskhinval.

According to him, the upcoming round of the Geneva Discussions will take place on March 18-19.

"In preparation for each round, we always visit the region. Today in Tskhinval, we have discussed in detail both the humanitarian issues and the security situation. In particular, we have considered the South Ossetian party's position on the non-use of force. We hope to see progress in the future," Shpeti has noted.

Our work is aimed at ensuring long-term stability in the region – Grono

The main goal of the talks within the Geneva Discussions is to ensure lasting stability in the region. The EU Co-Chair Magdalena Grono stated this at the briefing in Tskhinval.

"As always, in preparation for the round, we thoroughly review all the have agenda items in both working groups.

Today, we thoroughly discussed the issues in each group, as well as individual topics that directly impact the lives of people in the region.

Our work is aimed at achieving key goals and ensuring the long-term stability," Grono has emphasized.

Alan Gagloev discussed strategic partnership issues with a delegation from the Abkhazian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev held the official meeting with a delegation from the Abkhazian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who had arrived in the Republic on a working visit.

The delegation is headed by the Abkhazian Foreign Minister Oleg Bartsits.

Acting Foreign Minister of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev and Abkhazia's Ambassador to the Republic Alan Elbakiev also participated in the discussion of the current agenda.

Preparations for the new round of the Geneva Discussions were discussed in Tskhinval

South Ossetia intends to focus on agreeing on a specific document on the non-use of force during the upcoming round of the International Security Discussions in the Transcaucasia. This was announced by Konstantin Kochiev, a head of the South Ossetian delegation and State Advisor to President, at the meeting with the international co-chairs in Tskhinval.

The meeting was held in preparation for the next round of negotiations.

The Abkhaz Foreign Minister arrived in South Ossetia on a working visit

A delegation from the Abkhaz Foreign Ministry, led by Minister Oleg Bartsits, arrived in South Ossetia on Monday on a working visit.

According to the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry's press service, the visit will include meetings with the Republic's leadership and the signing of a Consultation Plan between the foreign ministries of the two republics for 2026–2027.

South Ossetia will celebrate the 33rd Anniversary of the Defense Ministry and the Defender of the Fatherland Day

South Ossetia is preparing to celebrate two significant dates: the 33rd anniversary of the of the national Ministry of Defense and Defender of the Fatherland Day.

As reported by the Republican Commission for preparation and holding of the state significant events, the program has been approved that will cover several days and has included official ceremonies, educational forums, cultural performances, and exhibitions.

South Ossetia commemorated the fallen internationalist soldiers

А rally dedicated to the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of the Soviet troops from Afghanistan was held in Tskhinval.

The event was attended by the Republic's leadership, headed by President Alan Gagloev, Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, veterans of the Afghan war, and the South Ossetian and Russian military personnel.

The rally began with a flower- and wreath-laying ceremony at the monument to the internationalist soldiers.

The participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the fallen.

Russia noted the importance of developing measures to ensure the security of Abkhazia and South Ossetia

Security issues in South Ossetia and Abkhazia were discussed at the meeting between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin and the co-chairs of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia, the Russian Foreign Ministry press service reports.

"The exchange of views took place on the current topics of the Discussions in preparation for the next round, scheduled for March.

In South Ossetia, citizens and tourists were reminded of the rules for visiting the border zone

The South Ossetian KGB Border Service reminded citizens and visitors to the Republic (tourists) planning to travel to the border zone of the need to have the appropriate documents.

"Citizens planning to travel, including for recreation and to attend festive or memorial events must have identification documents—a passport, service ID, or birth certificate (for minors).

Furthermore, foreign citizens must have a border zone pass," the KGB press service stated.
