In connection with the anniversary of beginning of armed aggression of Georgia against the Republic of South Ossetia in the August of 2008.
In several days it will be the anniversary of the tragic events of the August 2008 when the Republic of South Ossetia exposed to well-placed and unprecedented to its size armed aggression from the Georgian side.
The war unlashed by Georgia simultaneously with the opening of the Olympic Games in Pekin at night from the 7th to the 8th of August, became the culmination of the georgian-ossetian conflict lasting twenty years and the worst way, chosen by the Georgian Government for its final resolving.
There is no doubt that the possibility of carrying out the full scale Georgia’s aggression against the population of South Ossetia was caused by the insane policy of its authorities, that were unable to respond for the consequences of their own risky ventures. Formed with the political and financial assistance of some countries sense of the self-superiority and impunity, trained in ‘democratic’ Georgia xenophobia led to the events which will remain in modern history of the region as the example of Georgian treachery, cruelty and barbarity.
Earlier the Republic of South Ossetia repeatedly called the world society and international organizations to impact on Georgian authorities that were systematically and demonstratively preparing their army to the aggression, and to cease the dangerous development of the events. Unfortunately these calls were not heard. The Republic of South Ossetia faced with the aggression of neighboring state, whose leadership planned the total extermination of ossetian population of South Ossetia. These plans were not realized exclusively due to the interference and firm position of Russian Federation that saved people of South Ossetia from extermination and undertook the commitment to the political and military support of the Republic of South Ossetia, and remain the only real guarantee of stability in the region.
The Republic of South Ossetia, that received the long-expected international recognition of its independence and sovereignty from Russian Federation and the Republic of Nicaragua, expresses its highest appreciation to these states for the taking of right political decision, certainly assisting to the lasting peace in our region.
With regret we have to state that international society still haven’t condemn the actions of Georgian leadership that led to the great number of human victims, destructions and catastrophic humanitarian situation in the region. More over with the help of their patrons Georgia, that suffered a defeat in the war lashed by its authorities, practically restored its military potential and is successfully increasing it.
The day before the anniversary of the tragic events of the August 2008 the Republic of South Ossetia appeals to the international organizations and all the states of the world with the call to break military cooperation with Georgia and stop the increase of its military power and condemn the armed aggression of Georgia against the people of South Ossetia, to assist in bringing the guilty people to account and in the establishment of stability in the region.
The Republic of South Ossetia appeals other states of the world and the International organizations to recognize its independence and sovereignty and thereby to deprive Georgia of the possibility to carry out a new genocide of ossetians.
