The statements of Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze on the day of remembrance of hundreds of victims of the Georgian aggression against South Ossetia in August 2008 that the Georgian authorities are not ready to sign the agreement on the non-use of force with the Republic of South Ossetia and Abkhazia sound cynical, according to the commentary by a representative of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry.
"The fact that Georgia was the initiator of the armed invasion of South Ossetia and the attack on the peacekeepers acting within the framework of international agreements is a known fact, confirmed by the independent EU commission headed by the Swiss diplomat Heidi Tagliavini, which official Tbilisi is trying to hush up," the MFA has noted.
It was added that the doubts voiced by the Georgian politician regarding the need to work on a document on the non-use of force, which is the main one in the International discussions on security in Transcaucasia, and the words that this “is not serious”, require close attention and analysis from the parties interested in stability in the region participating in the negotiation format.
