South Ossetian Parliament Speaker Alan Margiev met with the Russian State Duma Deputy Kazbek Taysaev, the Parliament's press service reports.
The parties discussed inter-parliamentary cooperation, the implementation of the Treaty of Allied Cooperation, and measures to support participants in the special military operation.
Alan Margiev expressed gratitude to the Russian Federation for its comprehensive assistance and emphasized the importance of continuing the work of the joint inter-parliamentary commission after the upcoming State Duma elections in September.
The Speaker also conveyed greetings to the Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin and his Russian colleagues.
Margiev reminded about the upcoming memorial events for the victims of the Georgian aggression, emphasizing that the South Ossetian people will always remember and be grateful to Russia for its assistance in 2008 and for recognizing the Republic's independence.
The parties noted the courage of the Ossetian soldiers fighting on the front lines of the special military operation.
Kazbek Taysaev has reported that Russia has adopted more than 170 laws to protect the special military operation fighters and their families, and proposed jointly adapting these legal mechanisms in South Ossetia.
Kazbek Taysaev conveyed greetings from Vyacheslav Volodin and the leadership of the Russian parliamentary factions, emphasizing the unanimous support for South Ossetia in the State Duma. He also praised the professionalism of Acting President of the Republic of South Ossetia Marat Kambolov, expressing confidence that his experience will contribute to the Republic's development.
At the end of the meeting, Alan Margiev expressed confidence that the updated Treaty on Deepening Allied Cooperation will provide a powerful impetus to the practical development of bilateral relations between South Ossetia and Russia.
