Marat Kambolov officially assumed office as President of South Ossetia

Marat Kambolov has officially assumed the office of President of South Ossetia. A ceremonial inauguration for the newly elected head of state is taking place in Tskhinval this Wednesday.

Kambolov took the oath of office on the Constitution. The text of the oath is prescribed by the Constitution of the Republic of South Ossetia.

Placing his hand on the Constitution of the Republic of South Ossetia, Marat Kambolov took the oath in the Ossetian language. He vowed to respect and safeguard the rights and freedoms of man and citizen; to observe and protect the Constitution, as well as the sovereignty, independence, security, and territorial integrity of the state; and to faithfully serve the people of South Ossetia.

Emilia Gagieva, Head of the Central Election Commission, ceremonially presented the presidential credentials to Marat Kambolov.

Gagieva has noted that on September 18, people of South Ossetia made their choice through the open and democratic expression of will.

Marat Arkadyevich Kambolov secured a decisive victory in the election, garnering 84.95% of the vote.
