Shortage of drinking water is caused by the cut-off at the open water reservoir in the village of Dzomag at Edis-Tskhinvali water pipeline, which supplies the South Ossetian capital with potable water, reported the Director General of the State Unitary Enterprise (SUE) "Energoresours" - South Ossetia Alan Gabaraev.
"Heavy rains polluted the water in Dzomag water reservoir, and in rainy weather, we have to disconnect it from the main water pipeline. The amount of water intake in the head main water reservoir in the village of Edis is not enough for a full supply of Tskhinval, so the city water is supplied under a schedule, " said Gabaraev.
According to him, to fill the city's water reservoirs, they also had to cut off Dzau district of South Ossetia and the northern suburbs of Tskhinval supplied with water not from the reservoirs, but directly from the pipeline.
"Tonight, this issue is to be settled, the reservoirs will be filled in and the water supply to the city will be resumed in its normal mode", said General Director of the SUE.
It should be noted that to solve the water problem, the Edis-Tskhinval water pipeline is under reconstruction and replacement of water pipes in the city is ongoing. Also, in the village Brytat (Dzau district of South Ossetia) a close reservoir is being built to replenish the required amount of water regardless of weather conditions.
