The President of the Republic of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity received the RF Minister of Regional Development Viktor Basargin paying a working visit to the Republic. The meeting was also attended by the Prime Minister of South Ossetia Vadim Brovtsev, Deputy Regional Development Minister of the RF Roman Panov, Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Elbrus Kargiev.
At the beginning of the meeting, Eduard Kokoity noted that after successful meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, where important decisions were taken in relation to the future prospects of Russian-South Ossetian co-operation a lot had already been done.
"We are cooperating with the Ministry of Regional Development entrusted by Russian government to deal with this issue. Your today’s visit receives special attention in South Ossetia since it the end of the year and the comprehensive rehabilitation plan is about to complete, " said Eduard Kokoity.
Addressing Viktor Basargin, the President noted that it was thanks to Basargin’s personal involvement that the agreement was reached on allocation of funds for the construction of private housing in South Ossetia.
"We have seen the challenges and problems Russia encountered through natural disasters and the economic crisis. But it has fulfilled all its obligations ", said Kokoity.
The President noted that with the help of Russia social facilities were under construction for the benefit of all people who live in South Ossetia, regardless of their nationality.
"It is very important against the backdrop of the fact that in Georgia instead of economy development, there was an arms race, military bases and facilities were being constructed. We are committed to the peaceful living and development, and invite all to follow the same," Kokoity said.
The President also congratulated the guests with the fact that Russia has been selected to host the 2018 Football World Cup. According to the president, it spoke for the increased prestige of Russia in the international arena.
"And the fact that Russia supports South Ossetia, including through building sports facilities, means that Russia had provided us a multifold assistance", he said.
In his turn, Viktor Basargin expressed confidence that all the agreements between Russia and South Ossetia would be implemented, “as well as all the decisions on the implementation of the comprehensive plan, and the forthcoming the investment plan and socio-economic developments of the Republic. We adhere to our agreements related to the implementation of a comprehensive plan. I hope that in December, this process is completed, and we will meet to sum up the results of our work. In addition, he informed that the Minister of Sports of Russia agreed that the Ministry would be implementing the program for the development of cultural and recreational bases in South Ossetia.
