A portrait of Radislav Khugaev from South Ossetia, who died heroically during the special military operation, is presented at the Heroes of Russia: Strength in Unity exhibition in the center of the hero city of Sevastopol.

The exhibition is dedicated to people who were awarded the highest award - the Gold Star of the Hero of Russia.

33-year-old Sergeant Khugaev died on March 27, 2022, during the special military operation in Ukraine. He was serving in a motorized rifle regiment.

That day, Khugaev's group was ambushed during the battle for Mariupol. Two soldiers were wounded, and Khugaev, without wasting a second, provided them with first aid. He gave the command to retreat, but he understood that those in front could die. Then he decided to distract the enemy.

Coming forward with the Ossetian flag, Khugaev opened fire, drawing fire on himself. His actions saved his comrades. Thanks to this unit, they managed to regroup and defeat the enemy.

For the courage and heroism shown in the battles for Mariupol, Russian President Vladimir Putin posthumously awarded Radislav Khugaev the title Hero of Russia.

In 2024, a monument in his honor was erected in his hometown of Kvaysa.

The name of Radislav Khugaev will forever remain in history. His story reminds us that our heroes are alive as long as we remember them.
