The management of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) office in Tskhinval presented a new tractor to the administration of Tskhinvalskiy district of South Ossetia. According to the head of the ICRC office in Tskhinval Pierre Rayshel, the machinery was acquired by the Red Cross to implement the project on construction the water conduit to the village of Satikar.
"About 1000 people are living in this village. But the system of drinking water supply has deteriorated. In this regard, the local residents have experienced significant difficulties. So we decided to help the villagers in solving this problem - said Rayshel. According to him, soon works on construction the new water conduit will start in Satikar. "We are collaborating with the district administration within the frames of this project. Our staff asked them to organize the work of digging trenches for laying water pipes. But because they lack the special equipment, the ICRC has decided to buy a new tractor for them - continued Rayshel. According to him, during the excavation works, the ICRC will provide the special equipment with fuel and lubricants, and employees of the district administration will organize and perform works on digging the trenches.
"When the excavation works are performed, our contractors will lay pipes, tanks, and will establish a water supply network in the village" - added the ICRC spokesman. He noted that after implementation of the project, the machinery presented to the district administration, would be involved in the water supply works in the other settlements of Tskhinvalskiy district of South Ossetia.
"This year we also plan to implement several water supply projects in some villages of South Ossetia and this tractor will be used in these works," - said Rayshel.
It should be noted that the problem of providing the residents of the South Ossetian villages- Monaster, Lashe-Balta, Chorbaul, Khetagurovo, - with drinking water has already been solved as a result of the past ICRC steps.
