Leonid Tibilov met with relatives of the missing citizens of South Ossetia

President of South OssetiaLeonid Tibilov has met with the parents and relatives of the missing persons of the Republic. The meeting was also attended by Attorney General Merab Chigoev, Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev, Commissioner for Human Rights Inal Tasoev.

Leonid Tibilov has reminded that today South Ossetia is commemorating the International Day of the Missing Persons.
" It is well known, through what severe trials went the Ossetian people. Three times Georgia unleashed war against us. Many people have died in these wars from the enemy bullets, many are still the missing. You, too, have lost your loved ones, and we have to perform our duties, as well as to help you to find your relatives. Ourappropriate authorities have not stopped working for a single day, "- assured the head of the state.
He has also noted that despite the lack of any interstate relations between South Ossetia and Georgia, in Geneva are held the international discussions on security in Transcaucasia, where the question of the fate of the missing persons is regularly raised.
"I know that every day you are waiting for your loved ones, no matter how much time has passed. We do our best to find out where and in what conditions are our citizens ", - said Tibilov.
The Chairman of the Committee of families of the missing Lydia Kudzieva hastold about her work and the challenges they face.
According to Kudzieva, for over two years she has been dealing with these issues by collecting information about the missing and meeting with their families.
"We are actively cooperating with the International Committee of the Red Cross and with the peacekeeping mission of General Lebed, which helps us with the DNA analysis," - said Kudzieva.
She also asked for assistance in solving the problems with the office space for the Committee.
Parents and relatives of the missing persons also told the President about their problems. Most of them are related to housing issues and the health of the older people.
According to Yuza Siukaeva, whose son disappeared 20 years ago, she was informed that her son had been buried in the city of Mtskheta (Georgia), but after the exhumation of several bodies, the remains of her son were not found.
"After the loss of my son, our life has lost meaning. Now we are living in the countryside with my husband, he's sick, he cannot move, I am not able to nurse him. If our leadership has the opportunity to provide me a one-roomed flat in the town, I would be closer to my daughter, who would have cared for us,"- she said.
Merab Chigoev has noted that the South Ossetian law enforcement agencies have the information about the cemetery near Mtskheta where are buried the citizens of South Ossetia, being shot in the early 90's.
"We are now going to raise this issue in Geneva and at the meetings of MPRI on exhumation of the graves," - said the Attorney General.
Leonid Tibilov was also submitted the documents containing the information which had been collected by the relatives of the missing. Many of the participants of the meeting have asked to assist in medical treatment of the seriously ill relatives.
The president listened to all of the questions and promised to help in their decision. He has stressed that the families of the dead and the missing- it is a category of citizens that needs particular attention.
"We will be seeking for them, attracting the international organizations, using every opportunity to clarify the fate of our people. If your relatives are alive, we will find them ", - concluded the president.
It should be reminded, that today South Ossetia is commemorating the International Day of the Missing.
