Moscow has hosted the sixth session of the Interdepartmental Commission for socio-economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia, co-chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of South Ossetia Rostislav Khugaev and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the North Caucasus Federal District Alexander Khloponin.
As IA "Res" was reported at the press service of the President and the government of South Ossetia, at the meeting had been discussed the implementation of the investment program to promote socio-economic development of the Republic of South Ossetia in 2012-2013, a course of working out a strategy of socio-economic development of the Republic South Ossetia till 2030 and a medium-term program of socio-economic development of the Republic of South Ossetia till 2017.
Opening the session, Khloponin has noted that the settlement of the issues of economic development of South Ossetia, its social sphere depends on the well coordinated joint work of Russian and South Ossetian parts of the commission.
"During the performance period of the commission we have been able to do much to assist the people of South Ossetia in matters of state formation. It was completed the implementation of a comprehensive plan for rehabilitation of housing; in a fairly short period of time for the South Ossetian people have been created all the necessary conditions for the efficient use of material and financial assistance. In particular, as part of the comprehensive plan have been reconstructed and built more than 1,000 kilometers of transmission lines, the road Tskhinval - Dzau - Ruck, schools, kindergartens, the Republican somatic hospital and other medical facilities, gas distribution network in the town of Tskhinval, the state and municipal executive power facilities of the Republic. In all, were restored and constructed 867 objects, including 602 residential premises. By the end of 2012 it is planned to complete the construction of the roads Bikar – Leningor, Tskhinval - Znaur and a number of social objects."
According to the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the North Caucasus Federal District, "the Interdepartmental Commission is really facing the challenges, aimed at improving the bilateral cooperation, and this should be promoted by creating a modern legal framework of South Ossetia, the development and adoption of strategic documentsfor medium and long term development in economic and social sphere of the republic."
For his part Rostik Khugaev expressed gratitude to the government and people of the Russian Federation for many years of supporting the people of South Ossetia in difficult times.
"For us, Russia is a reliable strategic partner. The aid provided by the Russian Federation within the framework of socio- economic cooperation has been contributing significantly to revive the economy and social sphere of the republic, and I'm sure that in the future the development of our state will also be closely linked with Russia,"- underlined Khugaev.
At the suggestion of the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of South Ossetia, it was decided to hold the next meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission for socio- economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia in April 2013 in Tskhinval.
