At the meeting with representatives of the Georgian authorities the South Ossetian side stood by its demand to recognize the citizens of South Ossetia, kept in Georgian prisons, the political prisoners. This has been said the media by Deputy Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement Khokh Gagloyty after the meeting of members of the Mechanisms on Prevention and Reaction to Incidents.
"The South Ossetian citizens kept in prisons of Georgia – are the political prisoners" - said Gagloyty.
According to him, this position was voiced by the Ossetian side at the MPRI meeting.
"The current Georgian authorities are studying the actions, committed by the previous leadership; they are making a list of political prisoners. I think that our citizens, kept in prisons of Georgia, will be included in this list, taking into account the fact that the Prime Minister of Georgia, a leader of the "Georgian Dream" Bidzina Ivanishvili described the war in 2008, as a crime and castigated the actions of the then Georgian leadership, "- said the deputy ambassador.
He has added that to date was established the South Ossetian citizenship of 13 people, being kept in Georgian prisons, two of whom are seriously ill.
"Earlier, the Georgian side has provided the information, according to which in prisons of Georgia are being kept 23 our citizens. It was established the South-Ossetian citizenship of only 13 prisoners. Two of them are seriously ill. Another South-Ossetian citizen – Tuaev, who is also being kept in prison – is denied by the Georgian party to be imprisoned, though we have previously received the opposite information,"- underlined Gagloyty.
He has also noted that currently five citizens of Georgia are serving sentences in South Ossetia.
"In the format of MPRI we raised the question that the exchange of the South Ossetian and Georgian prisoners should take place on the principle of "all for all ", other conditions are unacceptable" - said Gagloyty.
He has added that at the meeting was also discussed the incident on December 2 in the village of Koda.
"Since 2008, this is the first case of destruction fire, which is a very negative factor - said Gagloyty. - At today's meeting the parties have presented the details to the incident. After studying them we will make a relevant declaration ", - said deputy envoy.
He has stressed that the statement will be prepared after the next MPRI meeting on January 29.
