Statement of the South Ossetian Republican political party "Unity"
After suffering a collapse in their attempts to seize South Ossetia by military force, Georgia is using the resource of public diplomacy to achieve its goals. Messengers of the new Georgian regime, sent from Tbilisi, are designed to improve the image of their country in the eyes of Russians, shifting the responsibility for the blood of Ossetians and Russians on Saakashvili.
It is learned that for February 18, in the North Caucasus, including Vladikavkaz, are scheduled the meetings of representatives of the Georgian scientific and educational community of the North Caucasus in order to present the next "new course" of Georgia. We believe that the participation of the Ossetian intellectuals as "extras" in this kind of PR-actions of the Georgian regime is an insult to the memory of victims of the Georgian fascism.
We are convinced that as a condition for normalizing relations Georgia should condemn the genocide of the Ossetians, to punish the war criminals and to recognize the independence of South Ossetia.
We also consider a visit of the Georgian "experts" to North Ossetia and holding meetings there as a factor, irritating our society, which does not contribute to strengthening the brotherly relations between the two branches of the Ossetian people.
