Participants of the rally "Relay of Memory", organized within the framework of the international public project "Our great victory" have arrived in the capital of South Ossetia. The action is dedicated to the 68th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
At the entrance to the Republic, in the village of the Upper Ruck, a several dozen motorcade was met with the traditional three Ossetian pies and beer.
Then theguests laid flowers at the monument to the Liberator Soldier in the village of Dzau.
In the capital of South Ossetia – Tskhinval, at the Theater Square has been held a meeting with the population. The guests were welcomed by the South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov and members of the government.
"I will say with pride that the Ossetian people have made a major contribution to the victory in the Great Patriotic War. On all fronts Ossetians were fighting bravely against the fascist aggressor, faithfully fulfilling their patriotic duties. Many of them were not destined to reach the victory," - said the president.
According to him, in memory of these men the current generations should do everything to maintain peace.
"In 2008, we achieved freedom and independence and should keep to these principles," - said Tibilov.
Participants of the rally thanked the leadership of the Republic for the warm welcome, and the representatives of Ukraine presented the icon of Saint George (Wasterrgy) to the President of South Ossetia.
Today the participants of the rally will take part in planting of the birch alley in the "Museum of the burned souls", where outdoor one can see the evidence of the war crimes of the Georgian army in August 2008. In addition, the guests will visit in Tskhinval the Russian Centre of Science and Culture, as well as the war song concert "Our great victory."
It should be noted that the international rally "Relay of Memory" was launched in Sevastopol on March 23. For 48 days the participants of the rally will visit 13 hero cities, 37 Russian cities of military glory, and 10 cities, awarded the First Class Order of the World War in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Representatives of the international project will bring to the 13 hero cities a massive 200-meter copy of the Victory Banner. May 9 this copy of the Victory Banner will be brought to Red Square, where the rally will finish.
The rally is organized for the second year as part of a large project "Our Great Victory."
