Schoolchildren from Dzau and Leningor districts of South Ossetia have visited a photo exhibition dedicated to the International Day of Mine Safety Education and Assistance in Mine Clearing, organized by the Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in South Ossetia.

As reported to IA "Res" by the spokesperson of the ICRC in South Ossetia Marina Tedety, the main objective of the exhibition and other events, timed to this date, is to remind the people about the mine problem in the Republic.
"In February we announced a painting competition on mine topic among the schoolchildren of South Ossetia - told Tedety. - We have invited the children today, including the winners from Dzau and Leningor districts. In addition to the exhibition, the schoolchildren have seen a film on the subject, which have demonstrated the ammunition and the activities of the ICRC for ensuring the safety of the population in the former conflict zones. "
According to her, the exhibition will run until April 5.
"The official opening will take place on April 4, the International Day of Mine Safety Education and Assistance in Mine Clearing - explained Tedety. - But gradually all the schoolchildren, the competition winners from the districts and town schools have been invited to the exhibition. "
It should be noted that the Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in South Ossetia has been carried out diversified humanitarian activities, which also includes the work to reduce the mine threat in areas affected by the war, and where this problem poses a threat to normal civilian life.
The International Day of Mine Safety Education and Assistance in Mine Clearingwas proclaimed December 8, 2005 by the UN General Assembly. The corresponding resolution was adopted to celebrate it every year on April 4.
