South Ossetian journalists attended the press conference of the governor of the Volgograd region of Russia Sergey Bozhenov with journalists from the North Caucasus and Transcaucasia, which took place within the framework of the International Historico- Cultural Forum "The Great Victory, won by unity: Peoples of the Caucasus in the Battle of Stalingrad " on April 25 in the city of Volgograd.

The press conference was also attended by Deputy Dean of the History Faculty of Moscow State University, Director of Political Studies Centre "North-South" Alexei Vlasov and the head of the nonprofit partnership "Caucasus Cooperation", PhD Nicholay Silaev.
The reporters got a chance to ask their questions. The meeting discussed the interaction between the region government and the national public organizations, the development of cultural and business ties with the countries of the Caucasus, as well as the support of veterans and the patriotic work.
First of all, the South Ossetian journalists expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of South Ossetia to the governor of the Volgograd region for the humanitarian assistance provided to residents of the Republic after the tragic events of August 2008 and the warm reception of the guests from Caucasus on the heroic Stalingrad ground.
Journalists of the news agency "Res" were also interested in the prospects of relationship between the Volgograd region and South Ossetia in the cultural sphere.
In turn, Sergei Bozhenov has noted that leaders at all levels should at any time help people in a difficult situation.
"Any country, any city, any town can find itself in a difficult situation. I am grateful to you that you remember the humanitarian aid provided by people of the Volgograd region in 2008. Regarding the development of relations between our two nations, I think, today it's time to work on this, because earlier this question has not been on the agenda "- said Bozhenov.
Alexei Vlasov told reporters what humanitarian projects would be implemented in South Ossetia in the near future by Political Studies Centre "North-South".
"In July of this year it is planned to hold the Russian-South Ossetian Youth Forum and along the with it the School of Political Science will be held for the young political scientists, following the example of the recent School of Journalistic Skills recently held in Tskhinval. Moreover, within the framework of the agreements with South Ossetian State University`s rector, the Moscow State University historians will come to Tskhinval to deliver lectures for the students of your university, "- said Vlasov.
He has also noted that the dean of the Faculty of History of the Moscow State University has decided to send a special set of textbooks for the schools of the capital of South Ossetia.
"We understand that in addition to the rehabilitation and construction is still the acute shortage of textbooks and manuals of good quality," - he said.
At the end of the event, the governor of the Volgograd Region Sergei Bozhenov has invited the pressmen to take part in the forum "Volga 2013" and in the bike show "Sevastopol - Stalingrad", which will be held in Volgograd in July and August, 2013.
South Ossetian delegation led by Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia, the Chairman of the political council of the party "Unity", director of the branch of the Institute of Eurasian Studies Zurab Kokoev participated in the Third International Historico- Cultural Forum "The Great Victory, won by unity: Peoples of the Caucasus in the Battle of Stalingrad ,"dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet troops in the Battle of Stalingrad, which took place in Volgograd on April 25 -26. Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed his greetings to the participants of the forum, stressing the importance of the international initiatives. "On the banks of the Volga were fighting shoulder to shoulder people of different nationalities and religion. They have survived because they were defending their land, truth and justice ... It is extremely important that the forum brought together veterans, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of those who had defended Stalingrad "- underlined Vladimir Putin in his address.
