The Russian Humanitarian Resource Center opened in Tskhinval

A meeting of representatives of the Russian Political Studies Center "North-South" and the Moscow State University named after Mikhail Lomonosov, with the teaching staff of the South Ossetian State University named Alexander Tibilov, has been held in the capital of South Ossetia.

In the course of the meeting has taken place the grand opening of the Russian Humanitarian Resource Center and the mission of the Russian Political Studies Center "North-South," as well as the signing of a cooperation agreement between the historical faculties of South Ossetian State University and Moscow State University has also taken place. For the South Ossetian side the agreement was signed by the Dean of the History Department of the South Ossetian State University Taymuraz Tadtaev, for the Russian side - by Deputy Dean of the History Department Aleksey Vlasov.
The Russian delegation at the meeting was represented by Director General of Political Studies Center "North - South", Deputy Dean of the History Department of the Moscow State University, Head of the Delegation Alexei Vlasov, his deputy Julia Jakusheva, representatives of the History Department of the Moscow State University Valery Romashchenko and Sergey Rekeda and the Political Science Department of the Miscow State Universiry - Daria Lyalyulina,
For the South Ossetian side the meeting was attended by acting Rector of South Ossetian State University Vadim Tedeev, Associate Professor of the South Ossetian State University and curator of the meeting Natalie Gassieva, Chairman of the State Committee of Information and Press Vyacheslav Gobozov, teaching staff of the South Ossetian State University.
Acting Rector of South Ossetian State University Vadim Tedeev thanked the guests for the assistance and cooperation.
"Moscow State University – is the leader of higher education of the Russian Federation, part of the hundred best universities in the world and for us it`s a great honor that we are in strategic cooperation", - he said.
Tedeev has also noted that the opening of Political Studies Center "North-South" will make a positive contribution to strengthening of the statehood of South Ossetia.
"In the near future we will have strong young politicians who will defend our interests before the international community", - he added.
"I hope that we will cooperate not only in political science but also in other areas," - said Tedeev.
In turn, Alexey Vlasov gave the staff of the South Ossetian State University a congratulatory letter by the Dean of the History Department of the Moscow State University, Academician Sergei Karpov.
In the letter is welcomed a new stage in the development of scientific and educational ties between the history departments of the Moscow State University and South Ossetian State University.
"Our department attaches great importance to cooperation with historians of South Ossetia. I am glad to note that the graduates of the Moscow State University for many years, marked by heavy days of the war, have been making a major contribution to the development of historical science in South Ossetia. I am confident that the signing of the cooperation agreement will create a mutually beneficial basis for cooperation between our scientific schools. As well as the opening of the Russian Humanitarian Resource Center and representation of the Political Science Center ''North-South'' at the South Ossetian State University will be an important step in strengthening the common space - human, social and cultural- between Russia and South Ossetia,"- is said in the letter.
"There will also be a library with textbooks and the most modern literature, including methodical for historians, philologists, the scientists. The room will be equipped with appropriate technology "- said Vlasov.
He has added that the main purpose of opening a representative office for Political Studies Center "North-South" – is the training of qualified specialists in the field of Media Communications.
"South Ossetia is a young state, but its brand is known little even in Russia. South Ossetia must position itself at a proper level - as a state that once and for all decided to follow the chosen path, and is not a bargaining chip in someone else's game. This is a principled position that coincides with the position of our leadership and we fully support it as the humanities scholars, "- said Vlasov.
He also noted the need to maintain constant interaction in the field of education, the training of new staff.
"This is important. Experts of the Russian scientific schools, including the best historians of the Moscow State University, will give lectures to the students of South Ossetian State University in the autumn of this year ", - said Vlasov.
Today Vlasov will give a lecture for lecturers and students of the South Ossetian State University on the topic "Politics in post-Soviet Russia: Current Status and Prospects."
The task of the resource center is to create a modern research library on various areas of the humanities with the support of the History Department of the Moscow State University and the Russian State University for the Humanities. In addition, the resource center will provide methodological assistance in the humanitarian sphere, especially in history and political science, as well as publication of joint researches by the Russian and South Ossetian authors. The Centre plans to hold joint conferences and presentations, organize trips of the leading Russian historians to Tskhinval.
