South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov hosted the South Ossetian professional boxer Murat Gassiev, a winner of the WBC world championship among youth and his coach Vitaly Slanov.
The Head of State has noted that in South Ossetia were waiting for this fight with his rival Levan Dzhomardashvili and sincerely believed in his victory.
"You have proved to be the highly trained athlete, the whole world has learned about your success, and I think that all progressive mankind is glad for you, as well as your compatriots. And we can proudly say that we have such an outstanding athlete, "- said the president.
Leonid Tibilov has voiced the hope that Gassiev will be an example for the Ossetian young people.
"We hope that more than once we will witness your triumphs. We are proud of such bright young people, "- said the president.
He has also thanked the athlete's coach Vitaly Slanov for the efforts he has been making for the training of young athletes.
The champion was also congratulated by Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of South Ossetia Konstantin Pukhaev and by Presidential Advisor for Physical Culture and Sports Rufin Dzhioev.
During the meeting, the President presented the Order of Friendship to the Honored Coach of South Ossetia and Russia Vitaly Slanov for his great contribution to the development of national and international sports and for the highly trained athletes.
For outstanding achievements Murat Gassiev was awarded with a certificate of honor of South Ossetia. The President also presented the gifts and a money prize to the champion.
Vitaly Slanov has thanked the President of the Republic for the appreciation of his work, assuring that he will continue working to the glory of South Ossetia.
In turn, Murat Gassiev expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and appreciation of his sports achievements.
"This belt is the lowest level of reaching my goals. I won it and I hope that it will not be the last, "- said the athlete.
Last month Murat Gassiev became the WBC world junior champion. Gassiev defeated his rival - Georgian professional boxer Levan Dzhomardashvili, knocking him down in the first round, and the second round he won by TKO.
Murat Gassiev held 11 professional boxing fights and won all of them, in seven bouts it was a knockout victory. Gassiev is 19 years old; he is a junior prize- winner of the Russian championship and the Cup of Russia.
