On the eve of the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014, in the territory of South Ossetia may become more active various religious-extremist and terrorist groups. This was stated by the President of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov at an extended meeting with the heads of ministries and agencies of the Republic.

The Head of State has noted that Russia, in the course of preparation for the Olympics, is paying close attention to security issues.
"These issues were also discussed during the visit to South Ossetia by Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Rashid Nurgaliyev. Russia carries out enormous work to halt any attempt of activization of the religious extremist and terrorist organizations in the vicinity of the Olympic Games, "- said Tibilov.
He called for all the participants to be more vigilant and pay close attention to this matter.
"A lot of people, mostly - from the countries of Central Asia- arrive in South Ossetia for the construction works. Law enforcement bodies of the Republic should be aware of what these people are doing in our territory. Among them may be criminals, and so we have to prevent fundamentally any illegal activities, including infiltration of militant Islamism into our Republic, "- stressed the president.
Leonid Tibilov also drew attention to the information that in the territory of South Ossetia there might be individuals working for the secret services of Georgia.
Appropriate instructions were given to the Interior Ministry, the KGB and the Migration Service of South Ossetia.
