Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy of South Ossetia for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev sent a letter to the co-chairs of the Geneva discussions, urging them to "take appropriate efforts for the scheduled September 28 action of Georgian journalists not to throw back the efforts of the Geneva discussions on maintaining and strengthening security and stability in the region.
Earlier, it was reported on the "protest action" to be held by the Georgian journalists on September 28 in the village of Dhwani in connection with delimitation works at the South Ossetian-Georgian state border.
According to Dzhioev, this action is fraught with serious consequences for the stability of the region, and is part of the pre-planned Georgian propaganda campaign against the defining of the frontier between South Ossetia and Georgia.
Such actions, which have become common in recent years, are designed to mislead the people of Georgia as well as the international community. Actually, there is no violation of the sovereignty and territory of Georgia. The Border Guard Service of the Republic of South Ossetia, in full accordance with the law and the sovereign right of the Republic of South Ossetia is carrying out works on the defining of the border line. Moreover, all the works are carried out in the territory of South Ossetia, at a certain distance from the boundary line and are aimed at maintaining stability at the border, to prevent its inadvertent violations.
The Envoy has expressed the hope that the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia, in accordance with its mandate, will provide stability and prevent escalation.
