State Duma has ratified an agreement with South Ossetia on the duty-free importation of goods with preservation of seizure on some of the most considerable commodity items.
The agreement is aimed at resolving the situation with the use of tariff regulation measures in respect of goods originating in the Republic of South Ossetia after Russia has recognized the independence of South Ossetia.
The document provides for the establishment between the two countries duty-free import of goods with preservation of seizure on some of the most considerable commodity items, and the collection of import duties on a number of products in the cases stipulated by Russian legislation. In this case, the import duties are not applied to gasoline and diesel fuel intended for consumption in the limited volume in the territory of South Ossetia.
This agreement will enable the goods produced in South Ossetia to enter the Russian market , will create a more favorable climate for attracting investments into the Republic and will increase bilateral trade between the two countries.
It should be reminded that on March 2, 2013 South Ossetia and Russia signed an intergovernmental agreement "On trade." The document was signed at the fifth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for socio - economic cooperation between the two countries.
In April, the South Ossetian parliament ratified the Agreement.
