Commander of the fourth military base Mikhail Polishchuk has congratulated the servicemen on the Defender of the Fatherland Day, noting that the contingent of the Russian military base has honorably been fulfilling its military duty.
"Today, our country is celebrating a great holiday - the Day of Defender of the Fatherland, - said Polishchuk. - This day is a special holiday for our country. We honor those who gave their lives for the benefit of the Russian Federation. Decades have passed, but we`ll be proud of the defenders of our homeland forever."
In turn, the head of state Leonid Tibilov on behalf of the people of South Ossetia congratulated the servicemen of the fourth military base on the occasion the Day of Defender of the Fatherland.
"This day is a significant day, as you serving in the armed forces of the Russian Federation do everything to ensure peace and tranquility in South Ossetia. - The president said. - We appreciate the presence of the fourth military base and Russian FSB Border Control Agency on the territory of the Republic; it is the guarantor of peace and tranquility for the Ossetian people. Our people will always remember the great assistance provided to South Ossetia in August 2008, when Russia forced the aggressor to peace. "
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to South Ossetia Elbrus Kargiev has also congratulated those present. According to him, the servicemen worthily represent Russia in South Ossetia.
"On this day, the kindest and warmest words are addressed to people in military uniform, those who defend our country, peaceful labor of Russians - Kargiev said. - In August 2008, the valiant Russian troops brought peace to South Ossetia and today we are here together with the South Ossetian army to ensure peace, security and stability."
During the event, for contribution to maintaining peace and security in the territory of South Ossetia, the conscientious performing of a military duty and on the occasion of the Day of Defender of the Fatherland President of the RSO Leonid Tibilov awarded the medal "For Service to Safeguard Peace in South Ossetia" to the fourth military base officer, Captain Alexander Makarenko.
