The actions of the Georgian authorities, who, according to the media reports, December 28 intend to resume the Ergneti market, are aimed at the aggravation of the situation in the border area, told the news agency "Res" the RSO Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev.

According to him, the South Ossetian side outlined its point of view on this issue in a written statement to the participants of the Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia.
"We learned about the intentions of the Georgian side from the media, and expressed our concern in a written statement to the participants of the Geneva discussions. These actions, of course, can be regarded as a deliberate escalation of the situation on the eve of New Year holidays, "- said Dzhioev.
According to the press service of the KGB of South Ossetia, residents of South Ossetia will not be able to visit the Ergneti market, as the market is on the territory of Georgia, and at this part of the state border it is not provided the simplified crossing checkpoint.
The opening of markets and outlets in Georgia has no any relation to us, because all of these activities take place within Georgia. Residents of South Ossetia will not be able to visit this market, as in this locality it is not provided a checkpoint. In addition, Georgia does not recognize the state border between it and South Ossetia, not working towards opening the official crossing points.
