In Geneva is under way the 31 round of the Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia. Currently are being held discussions on security, humanitarian issues, including, the fate of the the missing citizens of South Ossetia imprisoned in Georgia. Today, the Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev handed the letter of the President of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov to the co-chairs of the Geneva talks, which calls on the international community to intensify efforts in addressing these important issues for the Republic.
Below is the text of the President's address:
"Appreciating the importance of the Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia, which are conducted in accordance with the Medvedev-Sarkozy agreements on stability and security in the Trans-Caucasus region, expressing to you my sincere appreciation for the efforts to develop the Geneva process, I appeal to you with the following.
It is very important at the Geneva talks to discuss and find solutions to issues related to determining the fate of persons considered the missing since 2008, and mutual release of citizens of the Republic of South Ossetia and Georgia, imprisoned in South Ossetia and Georgia, respectively. Solving these problems is not only of humane and humanitarian significance, but is an important factor of security and mutual trust. "
