Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy of the Republic of South Ossetia for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev has met with representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry, members of the Russian delegation at the Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia Dvinyaninov and Kulakhmetov.
During the meeting was discussed the situation at the state border between South Ossetia and Georgia, including Leningor district, as well as preparations for new multilateral meetings in Geneva.
"With regard to new provocations carried out by the Georgian side in July in the areas, where installed border signs by representatives of South Ossetia, both sides underscored the urgent need for delimitation and demarcation works at the state border between South Ossetia and Georgia.
South Ossetian side has expressed extreme concern over the incident at the border, taking place September 23, when was wounded a civilian resident of South Ossetia, who was cultivating his plot near the village of Ioncha in Znaur district."
It was noted that on the eve of the upcoming meeting in Geneva the Russian and South Ossetian sides noted the paramount importance of the question of non-use of force in Transcaucasia, the need to conclude solid legally binding agreements between the Republic of South Ossetia and Georgia, the Republic of Abkhazia and Georgia.
"It was noted that on the background of the NATO training and assessment center, opened near Tbilisi the task to provide lasting security of two new independent republics in the region is of particular relevance, - emphasized the envoy.
South Ossetian side once again underlined the importance of further expansion of South Ossetian-Russian allied relations in order to strengthen stability and security in the region. The Russian side confirmed the intention to contribute fully to strengthen the state's sovereignty and the inviolability of borders of the Republic of South Ossetia ".
