Nauru will promote the interests of South Ossetia on those international venues where this state is represented, Anatoly Bibilov said at today's press conference in the State Committee of Information and Press.
According to the President of South Ossetia, during the meeting with the head of Nauru Baron Divavesi Vaka, were expressed assurances in sincere friendship and development of cooperation between the two states.
"The leadership of Nauru expressed readiness to defend the interests of South Ossetia on the UN platform, as well as in other international organizations, where this republic is represented," Anatoly Bibilov said.
As the head of state noted, the friendly relations that have developed between the two countries are strong and long-term, despite the pressure exerted on Nauru by the United States and other countries.
"However, Nauru sounded solid assurances that there would not be any actions that would undermine South Ossetia's confidence in Nauru and actions destroying friendly relations between our countries. This is the main result of our meeting, "Bibilov specified.
In addition, during the bilateral negotiations, the sides exchanged invitations to visit Nauru and South Ossetia.
"2018 is a jubilee for both republics. On January 31, Nauru will celebrate its 60th anniversary of independence, and on August 26, South Ossetia will celebrate 10 years from the date of recognition of independence, therefore they agreed to exchange delegations," the head of state concluded.
