South Ossetian weightlifter Sarmat Ikaev performed at the WPC World powerlifting Championship in Moscow and won a gold medal. The athlete competed among juniors up to 23 years, in the weight group up to 125 kg.
As Ikaev himself has noted in the comment to "Res" agency, he took the first place, taking in the sum of triathlon 700 kg.
"Unfortunately, during the competition I received an injury and could not show everything I was preparing for. But, despite this, the coach appreciated my performance as quite successful", - Ikaev said.
He has noted that the tournament was international and gathered a lot of strong participants from all over the world.
The champion has clarified that a recovery process awaits him ahead, and then trainings. It is not expected competitions with his participation until the summer. In summer Ikaev plans to compete in Finland.
Sarmat Ikaev is a twice champion of Russia, European champion, twice world champion.
