At the negotiations in Geneva, South Ossetia called on the Georgian side to assist the Republic in clarifying the fate of the South Ossetian citizens to be listed missing since 2008, said Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy of the RSO for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev.
“Since South Ossetia and Georgia are neighboring states, sooner or later we need to look for the ways to good-neighborliness. We believe that assistance in resolving such issues as clarifying the fate of the missing citizens of our country, five of whom were in the hands of the law enforcement agencies, of Georgia, would help the emergence of some germs of trust in the current Georgian authorities,” the Envoy stressed.
According to Dzhioev, the South Ossetian delegation once again raised the issue of returning the Republic’s ancient relic - the Tskhinval triptych.
“We have noted that the icon must be returned to its rightful owner, the people of South Ossetia, as it is their spiritual value,” the Plenipotentiary said.
He has added that the delegation of the Republic also touched upon the issue of Ossetians - immigrants from the Tyrsygom gorge in Georgia, who are not allowed by the Georgian authorities to visit their homes.
