The South Ossetian delegation laid wreaths and flowers to the Eternal Flame and the Mother Motherland monument at Piskarevsky cemetery in St. Petersburg as part of the work of the IX International Victory Forum "Great Victory gained by unity".
The South Ossetian delegation is headed by the First Deputy head of the Presidential Executive Office Alan Dzhussoev.
"The Forum has started today and will be held for two days. The delegation of South Ossetia will take part in all the events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the fascist blockade," said Dzhussoev.
On Friday, the event began with a minute of silence to the fallen during the Siege of Leningrad in 1941-1944. Delegates from other countries and republics also took part in the memorial meeting. In the public garden of Menshikovsky Prospect, has taken place the laying of the avenue and the memorial stone "The Great Victory gained by Unity".
During the Forum, the participants and guests will be able to see the materials of the exhibition “Realized Memory: Defense and Blockade of Leningrad in Museum Expositions. To the 75th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the fascist blockade.”
The Forum will end with a gala evening with a concert prepared by representatives of national delegations, which will be attended by Honored Artist of Abkhazia and South Ossetia Zalina Sapieva with the song "Where are you now, friends of fellow soldiers."
The project "International Forum of Victors" Great Victory gained by Unity "is aimed at preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War - the most important historical event uniting the peoples of the former USSR. 250 delegates from 16 countries are taking part in it: authoritative experts, public representatives, search, youth, veteran and international organizations involved in the preservation of objective historical knowledge of the Great Patriotic War, official representatives of the CIS countries.
The Forum program includes a plenary session and thematic sections, during which participants develop initiatives aimed at preserving the common historical memory in the CIS space, objective historical knowledge about the war, and countering attempts to falsify it.
