A delegation of the Parliament of South Ossetia led by Speaker Alan Tadtaev took part in the International Forum on the Development of Parliamentarism.
According to the press service of the legislative body, according to Speaker of the Parliament Alan Tadtaev, the State Duma of Russia initiated the large-scale event. It was attended by guests from 132 states. About 800 parliamentarians and experts arrived in the capital of Russia to participate in the event. The Forum was also attended by 41 speakers of national parliaments, as well as by delegations of 14 inter-parliamentary organizations.
According to the Speaker, the conference was held at a very high level and in a friendly atmosphere.
“The Forum was very constructive. We talked with the speakers of the parliaments of the countries of near and far abroad. The main topics of discussion were international security and humanitarian law. The dialogue that took place within the framework of the Forum will help to solve the most pressing international and regional problems,” said the head of the legislative body.
In addition, the Forum was attended by the Chairman of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, the Chairman of the Pan-African Parliament, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Abkhazia and representatives of committees and factions of the State Duma headed by the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin.
“In addition to plenary sessions, seminars and round tables were held, at which various topical issues were discussed, including social issues and joint legislative initiatives,” explained Alan Tadtaev.
He has also reminded that he made a report at the round table "International humanitarian law and humanitarian cooperation: the role of parliaments and inter-parliamentary institutions." In his report, Alan Tadtaev stressed the importance of the existence of a universal concept of interstate cooperation in the humanitarian field, in particular, in the field of security and the protection of the rights of the population.
Separately, the meetings were held with LDPR Chairman Vladimir Zhirinovsky and the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov, Head of the Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Irina Yarovaya, as well as with the Chairman of the Sierra Leone State Parliament.
During these meetings, a number of cooperation issues were identified, on which the work will be conducted.
It should be noted that the well-known European parliamentarians and PACE leaders of different years took part in the event.
