South Ossetian athlete Sarmat Ikaev won the powerlifting World Cup. The competitions were held in Moscow (Dolgoprudny).
Ikaev won the deadlift, lifting the bar weighing 285 kg, performing in the weight class up to 125 kg among juniors under 23 years of age.
Commenting on his victory to the Res agency, the athlete noted that he had beaten his rivals by several kilograms.
“I defeated the opponent from Iran by 2.5 kg, and by an opponent from Afghanistan by 5 kg. Thanks to the professional work of my trainers, who, as always, have competently prepared me for the competition, I have reached the weight that ensured my victory, and, if necessary, I could have taken the heavier apparatus, Ikaev said.
At the World Cup, they competed in powerlifting, bench press, deadlift, biathlon, national bench press, biceps lifting and standing press WPA / AWPA;
Ikaev’s rivals were athletes from Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Cuba, Estonia, Iran, Afghanistan, India, etc.
At the World Cup, he represented the state security service of South Ossetia.
Ikaev thanked the Committee on Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism of South Ossetia for the assistance in the trip to the competition.
The athlete is trained by Arthur Pliev and Atsamaz Gabayev.
