"The election commission counted all the ballots; the final protocol was drawn up and sent to the CEC of Russia through diplomatic channels. According to the final data, 9,143 Russians took part at all three polling stations - 87 percent of Russian citizens in South Ossetia supported the amendments to the Basic Law of the Russian Federation, "said Alekseev.
It should be noted that on July 1 in the Republic, as in Russia, was the main voting day. Since June 25, early voting was also being held.
As noted by the consul, no violations or complaints were recorded during the voting.
In South Ossetia, Wednesday was announced by President Anatoly Bibilov as a day off due to the voting on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation. Three polling stations were opened in the Republic - one at the Russian Embassy in Tskhinval for civilians, and two on the territory of the 4th Russian military base for military personnel and their families.
More than 90% of the population in South Ossetia have Russian citizenship.
