President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov congratulated his colleague, President of the Republic of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega on the 41st anniversary of the victory of the Sandinista revolution.
“Dear President Ortega! Dear Nicaraguan brothers and sisters! I am glad to have this opportunity to address you, to the entire people of Nicaragua and to greet you on behalf of fraternal South Ossetia on the eve of the 41st anniversary of the victory of the Sandinista revolution! "
According to Bibilov, the Caucasus and Central America, South Ossetia and Nicaragua are separated from each other by a huge distance - twelve thousand kilometers, but it cannot be an obstacle to the friendship of our peoples.
"During the years of the Nicaraguan people's struggle against the tyranny established by imperialist intervention, a movement of solidarity with Nicaragua arose in South Ossetia. The Nicaraguans' courage, perseverance and loyalty to the cause of the revolution aroused great respect. For our people, as well as for all who share the ideals of the equality of nations, freedom, democracy and social equality, the victory of the Sandinista revolution in July 1979 was a joyful and inspiring event, - says the congratulatory address. - Among those countries that supported Nicaragua in the revolutionary struggle, building a new life, in protecting against the terror of imperialist aggressors, there was also our great Fatherland - the Soviet Union, which then rendered Nicaragua significant assistance. Having visited Nicaragua for the anniversary celebrations dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Sandinista revolution, I was glad to see that the struggle of the Nicaraguan people and the sacrifices brought to the altar of the revolution were not in vain. People of Nicaragua, by choosing and defending freedom, achieved truly impressive success. "
The President has noted that the country's socio-economic development, its achievements in various fields, its worthy place and important role among other countries of the world community - all this was achieved thanks to the victorious revolution.
“These successes would have been much greater if not for the aggressive opposition of those who have lost their super profits from the exploitation of Nicaragua's natural resources, those who do not like such a clear example of genuine sovereignty and the state working for the good of its people. We believe that no any obstacles will force Nicaragua to deviate from the chosen path. The proud people of Nicaragua will not allow anyone to take away their conquests. This peaceful, but courageous people have already proved more than once that they are invariably ready to defend their Motherland, the right to be the master of their own destiny, and this is the guarantee of their wonderful future ", - Bibilov emphasized.
The President addressed: "Dear Nicaraguan friends! On behalf of the government and people of South Ossetia, I congratulate you on the next anniversary of the victory of the Sandinista revolution! I sincerely wish the people of Nicaragua new successes, peace and prosperity! May the life on the Nicaraguan land become better every year!"
On September 3, 2008, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega at the military rally in Managua on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the formation of the country's armed forces announced that his country had officially recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
Nicaragua became the second country after Russia to recognize the independence of South Ossetia. Two years after the recognition, diplomatic relations were established between the countries, in July 2011, the South Ossetian Embassy was established in Nicaragua. It is headed by Ambassador Nariman Kozaev.
