In South Ossetia, extreme surprise was caused by the speech of the leader of the "Essence of Time" movement Sergei Kurginyan, aired on the Russian TV channel "Russia 1" on February 25 on the air of the talk show "Evening with Vladimir Solovyov", which contained incorrect and inadmissible formulations of a dubious nature about South Ossetia with a mention of the public authority - the leadership of the Presidential Executive Office of South Ossetia. This is stated in the commentary of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic to the news agency "Res".
“One would like to believe that such hasty and unsubstantiated statements used by a well-known Russian political scientist and public figure were made due to insufficient awareness of this issue and without due regard to the sensitive reaction to these words that took place in the South Ossetian society,” the press service noted. - And yet - it is difficult to link the statements of Mr. Kurginyan in the above-mentioned TV air with the fact that at one time he was presented a state award - the medal "For service in guarding peace in South Ossetia" for truthful coverage of the events taking place around South Ossetia.
The press service of the Foreign Ministry expressed the hope that Mr. Kurginyan would realize the absurdity of the misunderstanding and make a corresponding comment.
