The visit of the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation Sergei Kiriyenko to South Ossetia was the important stage in the development of the Russian-South Ossetian relations, according to political scientist Yuri Vazagov believes.

According to him, as a result of the talks with President of the Republic Alan Gagloev, the most important decisions for South Ossetia were made.

"One of the most significant steps was the allocation of funds for reconstruction of the Lower Zaramag checkpoint. Even before the completion of the reconstruction, the throughput capacity will increase by 70%, which will help reduce queues and improve travel between North and South Ossetia.

This step will also create conditions for increasing the tourist flow to the Republic," Vazagov said.

He has also noted that the important result of the negotiations was the issue of canceling the decree of the Russian government for citizens of South Ossetia, according to which all foreign citizens must notify the customs authorities of Russia two days in advance.

"This regulation, which comes into force this summer, could have created great inconvenience, since many residents of the Republic regularly travel to North Ossetia. As noted by President Alan Gagloev, there is confidence that this decree will not apply to South Ossetia," the political scientist has emphasized.

He has added that the equally important step was the opening of the Promsvyazbank branch in Tskhinval.

"This will not only facilitate the process of receiving Russian pensions, but will also provide local residents with wider access to banking services," Vazagov has noted.

He also emphasized the importance of the decision on additional funding for the operation of the new children's camp in Dzau district.

"This will improve the conditions for children's recreation and create high-quality opportunities for the upbringing of the younger generation," the political scientist believes.

The expert also noted the allocation of funds for preparation for the 80th anniversary of the Victory for all schools and villages of South Ossetia.

"This will allow us to prepare for and hold the anniversary of the Great Victory at a high level, which will emphasize the importance of the contribution of the Ossetian people to the common victory over Nazism," he said.

According to Yuri Vazagov in general, Sergei Kiriyenko's visit was the important step in the development of bilateral relations and opened up new prospects for further effective cooperation.
