The detection rate of patients with coronavirus in South Ossetia in early March varies from 12 to 22 percent, the head of the South Ossetian Consumer Supervision Committee Marina Kochieva told the “Res” news agency.
“The percentage is not low; we have to understand that. COVID-19, of course, will not disappear, most likely it will subsequently turn into seasonal incidence. But today we recommend that the population adhere to all preventive measures, observe the rules of hygiene, mask regime, disinfection regime, refrain from visiting crowded places,” Kochieva said.
According to her, citizens who were sick with coronavirus in the fall of last year are also at risk.
“During this period, the antibody titer could have decreased to a minimum. There are cases when COVID-19 patients do not have them at all. Of course, those who have not yet had a coronavirus are also at risk. People may also think that they have the usual flu, but in any case, they should isolate themselves at home, not contact their relatives without a mask, observe hygiene rules and call a local doctor without fail,” the chief sanitary doctor emphasized.
Marina Kochieva has noted that since November last year, there has been a trend towards a decrease in the incidence of COVID-19, however, since the first days of March, the percentage of positive results from the total number of tests conducted in a day has been from 12 to 22%.
“In October last year, out of the total number of tests conducted on COVID-19, 43 percent were positive, in November - 24 percent, in December - 22 percent, in January of this year - 20 percent, in February - 10 percent, despite the fact that the number of samples increased compared to the previous month. There was a downward trend in morbidity,” said the chief sanitary doctor.
At the same time, she noted that in January-February of this year, the number of detected cases of COVID-19 in Dzau district decreased from 28 percent to 11 percent, in the Tskhinval district- from 18 to 5 percent, and in Znaur district, on the contrary. - increased from 16 to 45 percent.
Over the past weekend, 22 new cases of coronavirus have been detected in the Republic.
