The counterproductive activities of the Georgian authorities and representatives of the "Force in Unity» create preconditions for border incidents, and are also carried out in violation of the restrictive measures introduced on the territory of Georgia due to the complex epidemiological situation.
This was reported on Thursday by the press service of the State Security Committee of South Ossetia.
"Against this background, the inability of official Tbilisi to exercise effective control of its own territory and to explain to ordinary citizens the counterproductivity of provocative actions near the state border is of particular concern," the secret service said.
The KGB has noted that during 2020-2021, the border authorities of the Republic noted the generally constructive activity of the Georgian public movement "Strength in Unity", headed by D. Katsarava, aimed at collecting and informing the population of Georgia of truthful information about the situation on the South Ossetian-Georgian border and the border territories of Georgia.
“However, as a result of the increased control of the Tbilisi regime over independent non-profit organizations, the KGB has recently recorded the activation of this movement in an unconstructive direction. So, since April 21, D. Katsarava has organized a number of protest actions in close proximity to the state border of South Ossetia with Georgia. The reason for these demarches was the planned work in the settlement of Ziuuat in Znaur district on plowing a fire strip along the perimeter of agricultural land adjacent to the state border, "the Committee stressed.
They noted that, wishing to attract the attention of the Georgian media, "the activists of the movement demonstratively violated the border legislation of the Republic of South Ossetia, and also called upon the journalists and local residents."
“The members of the NGOs provoked the officers of the border agencies of South Ossetia to arrive at the interstate separation line and, having documented the presence of the squads, presented these actions to the media under the guise of so-called “borderization,” the press service said.
The KGB has noted that such actions of the Georgian side not only pose a threat to residents of the border settlements and prevent the stabilization of the situation, but also contribute to the creation of new hotbeds of tension.
