South Ossetia will be hosting the events dedicated to the 17th anniversary of the Georgian aggression against South Ossetia in August 2008.
As reported to IA "Res" by the Republican Commission for the Preparation and Holding of the State-Significant Events, from August 1 to 8, the Republic's media will be presenting the materials, photo and video evidence, as well as films dedicated to the 08.08.08 August war.
On August 7, the events will begin at 19:00 with the opening of the photo exhibition "08.08.08-08.08.25", which will unfold at the memorial complex "To the Defenders of South Ossetia".
Then at 22:00, a solemn mourning ceremony will also be held at the memorial complex.
On August 8, on the 17th anniversary of the tragic events, at 09:00, memorial services for the victims of the August war will begin.
They will be held in the churches of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Holy Trinity.
At 11:00, the official ceremony of laying flowers at the places where the defenders of Ossetia died will take place.
Flowers will be laid at a number of memorial places, including the peacekeepers' barracks, at the place where Oleg Galavanov perished, at the monument to the Hero of the Russian Federation Denis Vetchinov, the deceased OMON officers, the "Museum of Burnt Souls", the monument to Amiran Bagaev and Azamat Dzhioev.
Participants of the laying of the wreath will honor the memory of Vilen Chibirov, Viktor Tadtaev,Vladislav Gazzaev, and will also lay flowers at the monument to Alexei Ivanov.
The memorial events will end with a showing of the play "Forever Alive" based on the play of the same name by Viktor Rozov.
The performance will begin at 18:30 at the State Drama Theater.
The funds raised from the performance will be sent to support the fighters of the special military operation.
