The attacks on civilian targets where families with children were vacationing are a demonstration of the absolute inhumanity and moral degradation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to the message of condolence from Aelita Dzhioeva, the Children's Rights Commissioner for South Ossetia.

"This latest tragedy, which took the lives of eight civilians, including two children, and injured three more children in Zaporozhye region, brings deep pain to our hearts.

South Ossetia knows firsthand what military aggression against civilians is, and we deeply share this pain," Dzhioeva said.

According to her, the attacks on recreation centers—clearly civilian facilities where families with children were vacationing—are more than just a war crime.

"This demonstrates the absolute inhumanity and moral degradation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Fighting defenseless children is the height of cynicism and barbarity," the ombudsman has emphasized.

She has noted that the protection of civilians during conflicts is a fundamental, immutable principle of international humanitarian law (in particular, the Geneva Conventions).

"The Ukrainian side's violation of these norms requires a rigorous legal assessment.

Unfortunately, we once again see the cowardly silence of relevant international institutions, whose direct responsibility is to protect the rights of children worldwide without double standards.

I express my deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims.

A speedy recovery to all the wounded," the condolence message reads.

According to the preliminary reports, eight people were killed in a Ukrainian drone attack on a resort in the resort town of Kyrylivka in Zaporozhye region on the night of July 25. Among them were two children, and 14 vacationers were injured.
