In South Ossetia, commemorative events began in the morning, timed to coincide with the 13th anniversary of Georgia's attack on sleeping Tskhinval in 2008. The events began with the laying of wreaths at the chapel in the courtyard of the secondary school No. 5 in Tskhinval, where the victims of the Georgian aggression are buried.

The ceremony was attended by a delegation from Abkhazia, which arrived the day before in the Republic on an official visit, headed by President Aslan Bzhania, representatives of the Republic's leadership, relatives of the fallen defenders of the Fatherland.

According to the program of events, today President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov will meet with Aslan Bzhania and the Acting Head of North Ossetia Sergei Menyailo. There will also be a meeting of the delegations of Abkhazia and South Ossetia and a visit to the National Museum of the Republic of South Ossetia.

Then, a visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in South Ossetia and a meeting with compatriots will take place, after which commemorative events timed to the anniversary of the war in August 2008 will continue with an action at the Gergiev Stairs in Tskhinval and a wreath-laying ceremony in the Museum of Burnt Souls.
