The team of the Ministry of Defense of South Ossetia, which includes the servicemen of the Special Forces Battalion, arrived in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic to participate in the competition of the International Army Games - 2021 "The Elbrus Ring".
According to the press service of the Defense Ministry, the South Ossetian servicemen will perform in the international stage of the competition among the teams not in full strength and will perform only one of a number of special tasks “High-speed race along the route Azau glade (2356 meters) - Elbrus summit (5642 M) ".
The team was familiarized with the rules of the competition and began to prepare.
According to the commander of the group, Soslan Gabatov, the servicemen will move along the classic route from the south to the western summit of Mount Elbrus.
“Some of the participating teams, just like us, came to participate only in this stage of the competition,” he said.
This is the first time that a South Ossetian team is participating in this ARMI-2021 competition.
“For us, this is an important event that enhances experience and skill. Next year we will arrive in full force and perform in all stages of the competition,” Gabatov added.
Teams of military climbers from Russia, China, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Uzbekistan and India are taking part in the Elbrus Ring. Before the start of the International Army Games, the mountain divisions of the participating countries will master the route of the competition, receive the necessary equipment, undergo acclimatization, etc.
