The Ossetians of St. Petersburg celebrated the thirteenth anniversary of the recognition of the independence of South Ossetia by Russia and the 102nd anniversary of the birth of the conqueror of the North Pole Yuri Kuchiev.

This was announced on social networks by a member of the Ossetian community of St. Petersburg, a member of the Council of Veterans of St. Petersburg, journalist Vladimir Dzotsiev.

“On Thursday, representatives of the Association of Polar Explorers of St. Petersburg, activists of the St. Petersburg Ossetian community, as well as friends of the Arctic captain came to the memorial plaque installed on the facade of the house where Yuri Kuchiev lived. They laid flowers, with a glass and three pies, celebrated the heroic deed of the crew of the atomic-powered ship "Arktika", the anniversary of the recognition of the independence of South Ossetia, wished prosperity to the people of South Ossetia, "he said.

The day of recognition of the independence of South Ossetia was also celebrated in the Ossetian communities of the regions of Russia and countries of the world. The youth of North Ossetia organized "Iron khazt" in the center of Vlidikavkaz in honor of the holiday.
