President Anatoly Bibilov held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of the Trans-Baikal Territory Andrei Gurulev, the press service of the head of state reports. The meeting was also attended by the Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov.
Anatoly Bibilov has noted that Andrei Gurulev, as the former commander of the 58th Army, has long been familiar with South Ossetia, its problems and achievements.
“You know perfectly well what a plight the people of South Ossetia were in, what happened in the difficult August days: the attack on peacekeepers, murder of civilians,” the President said.
He has noted that recently a very significant monument was opened in the Republic - the Memorial to the Defenders of the Fatherland, which personifies the unity of the Ossetian and Russian soldiers, militias and Russian peacekeepers.
“People of South Ossetia are very grateful to you. And the fact that you are here today means that you are not losing contact with South Ossetia,” the head of state said.
For his part, Andrei Gurulev noted the transformation of the Republic, the emergence of new infrastructure facilities and wished South Ossetia further development and prosperity.
“Today we will talk about those moments that we can implement together with the Trans-Baikal Territory in the field of cultural ties, education, inter-parliamentary relations. I think it will be beneficial and will give further development to both South Ossetia and our Trans-Baikal Territory,” he said.
Continuing the topic, Anatoly Bibilov called the ties with the constituent entities and federal districts of the Russian Federation important. He also wished Andrei Gurulev victory in the upcoming elections to the State Duma.
“South Ossetia understands what role the political party “United Russia” plays in the fate of our people. The party fully supports the President of Russia, who provides all-round support to the Republic of South Ossetia,” the President said.
He has stressed that the citizens of South Ossetia, the overwhelming majority of whom also have Russian citizenship, will come to the elections and vote at polling stations that will be open on the territory of the Republic.
