Drunk Georgian citizens who violated the state border have been detained in South Ossetia

Four citizens of Georgia, who were in a state of strong alcoholic intoxication, illegally crossed the state border of South Ossetia along the bed of the Bolshaya Liakhva River, south of Tskhinval. According to the press service of the KGB of the RSO, the incident took place last Monday evening.

"After being revealed by the South Ossetian border guards, these persons attempted to escape. At the same time, one of the offenders fled back to Georgia, two were detained by the border guards, another one fell off a 10-12 m high cliff during his escape, as a result of which he was injured and was later detained," - said the press service.

At present, investigative authorities of the Republic of South Ossetia are investigating this incident.

"The injured resident of Georgia has been provided with the necessary medical assistance; his state of health is satisfactory. For humanitarian reasons, the issue of his transfer to the Georgian side is being worked out," the department stressed.

The KGB has added that in relation to the rest of the detainees, the procedural actions provided for by law will continue.
