On Thursday the Russian State Duma has ratified the agreement with the Republic of South Ossetia, introduced by Russian President Vladimir Putin, on the procedure for calculating length of service for the assigning monthly. bonus for contract servicemen and for establishing the amount of a monthly bonus for military pensioners.
According to the explanatory note, the conclusion of such an agreement was dictated by the need to "preserve for servicemen, as well as for persons dismissed from military service, the right to assign a monthly bonus" taking into account the length of service they have acquired in service in the armed forces and other military formations of Russia and South Ossetia "provided that during the periods of their military service they were citizens of one of the parties."
The document establishes that "servicemen undergoing military service under contract in the armed forces of one party, in the length of service for the appointment of a monthly premium for length of service are counted in calendar terms, the periods of their military service in the armed forces of the other party" if they have citizenship. A similar rule is introduced for retired military personnel who served in one of the countries that are parties to the agreement, which is appointed in accordance with the laws of another country.
