812 people who served in the Ossetian peacekeeping battalion from 1992 to 2009 began receiving monthly cash payments in 2021 in South Ossetia, another 190 will receive payments in the near future, Alan Dzhussoev, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Executive Office of South Ossetia, told the “Res” news agency.
"In total, since the beginning of 2021, it was planned to submit 900 people for payments, more than 1600 applications were received for cash accruals. The documents were accepted in the Pension Fund of Russia in North Ossetia and the Ministry of Labor of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, as well as in the Presidential Executive Office of our Republic - on the instruction of the head of state Anatoly Bibilov ", - said Dzhussoev.
According to him, when considering the applications of citizens, taking into account certain criteria, 1,002 people were submitted for payments during 2021.
"Already today, 812 people are receiving payments, 190 former peacekeepers are awaiting to receive them. The documents of more than 100 citizens are under consideration," said the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Executive Office
Alan Dzhussoev also spoke about the mechanism by which the payments start. "At the meeting of the government of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, the list of applicants and the amount presented for enrollment are approved. Such meetings are held as planned, once every two months," Dzhussoev said.
He has added that among the former peacekeepers, 40 people do not have Russian citizenship.
"It is necessary to develop a separate mechanism for assigning payments to them, such work is undoubtedly underway," said the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Executive Office.
Dzhussoev has also stressed that all citizens who submitted the necessary documents confirming contractual service in the Peacekeeping Forces will receive cash payments recalculated from January 1, 2021 by the decree of the President of Russia.
"Over the past year, we had to face delays in the consideration of documents, caused by technical failures in the work of the Pension Fund of Russia associated with moving from one building to another. In addition, the situation was influenced by the death of the employee of the Ministry of Labor of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, who was directly involved in the payments ", - said Dzhussoev.
The agreement on the appointment of monthly cash payments to the former peacekeepers was reached in April 2020 during the negotiations between the President of South Ossetia, Anatoly Bibilov, with the leadership of Russia. The payments began on January 1, 2021, and will amount to 3062 rubles per month for those who, in calendar terms, were serving from 1 to 10 years and 4593 rubles who served in the peacekeeping forces for more than 10 years.
It should be noted that on July 14, 1992, the mixed peacekeeping forces (JPKF) were brought into the zone of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict, which became the guarantor of peace for the next 16 years, until Georgia's armed attack on South Ossetia on August 8, 2008.
