The State Security Committee of South Ossetia continues to implement a set of measures to curb the channels of illegal movement of goods and cargo across the South Ossetian-Georgian state border, the press service of the department reported.
“In particular, on December 30, in the vicinity of the settlement Salbiar in Leningor district, employees of the Border Service of the Committee, in cooperation with the military personnel of the Border Guard Service of the Federal Security Service of Russia, neutralized an attempt to move household goods from Georgia to South Ossetia, intended for subsequent sale by local residents on the territory of Leningor district of the Republic. At the same time, the Georgian citizens Bezhitashvili N.G., born in 1999, and Elizbarashvili K.G., born in 1980, were detained for violating the regime of the state border and were brought to administrative responsibility with confiscation of the goods and subsequent expulsion from South Ossetia,” the statement reads.
They noted that at the same time, according to the information received from patriotic representatives of the Georgian NGO movement, they managed to identify the third offender who had fled back to Georgia.
"The said person, D.I. Mishelashvili, born in 1977, was previously prosecuted for illegally crossing the state border of the Republic.
Three citizens of South Ossetia involved in the illegal transportation of goods across the state border have also been brought to administrative responsibility in the form of a fine of ten thousand rubles each," the KGB stressed.
With regard to the citizens of South Ossetia, the State Security Committee once again draws attention: before committing an illegal act, think about the possible consequences, the existence of administrative and criminal liability for violation of border legislation.
