A meeting of the Security Council of South Ossetia was held, the presidential press service reports\ed. On the agenda were issues of the Republic's security in the context of the NATO-Georgia command and staff exercises.

At the beginning of the meeting President Anatoly Bibilov gave an assessment of the shelling of Donetsk on March 14, as a result of which civilians were killed.

“The nationalists crossed all the limits of what was permitted, they hit the center of Donetsk, by using Tochka-U, more than 20 people were killed, dozens more with various injuries ended up in medical institutions. This is carried out with the direct support of the West, and this is not hidden, the support is officially provided both in terms of financial resources and weapons,” Anatoly Bibilov said.

He noted the effective fulfillment of the tasks of conducting a special military operation, which should put an end to the shelling of the civilian population of the DPR and LPR.

Members of the Security Council honored the memory of all the killed with a minute of silence.

The President stressed that the NATO countries would not stop and would create certain tense situations near the borders of the Russian Federation.

“Georgia is no exception. We know perfectly well that the leadership of Georgia is completely tied up with NATO, with the promises that they are given. We cannot but be alarmed by the announced NATO-Georgia command and staff exercises,” Anatoly Bibilov said.

He asked the Acting Head of the KGB Border Service Valery Alikhanty to report on the situation along the South Ossetian-Georgian border.

Valery Alikhanty presented the information about the posts of the police units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, located near the South Ossetian border in the border settlements of Georgia.

According to the Acting Head of the Border Service, strengthening of the personnel of the Georgian posts were carried out in all directions.

In addition, on February 23, the Georgian side carried out measures to transfer individual units of the 4th Infantry Brigade of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia in the direction of the State Border of the Republic of South Ossetia.

The head of state has noted that, based on the report, there are minor reinforcements along the border of South Ossetia.

“We must understand that a slight increase in the number of posts does not cause particular concern. But I would ask the relevant structures to pay even more attention to the movements and actions of Georgia. And promptly report on all identified points. As for the NATO-Georgia command and staff exercises, they are of a destabilizing nature. I urge all services to monitor the situation. Pay attention to the training of personnel, weapons, equipment, uniforms,” said Anatoly Bibilov.

He has also stressed that the situation in the world does not allow to undermine the internal situation in South Ossetia.

“This is very important for everyone. And I want to appeal to all political parties, to all people, to hold elections calmly. I hope we will be heard,” the President said.

At the meeting of the Security Council, the situation with the closure of the Transcaucasian highway was also discussed.

“As for the road, the steps that were taken with our Russian colleagues will allow today to carry out the work on the forced descent of avalanches. As soon as the work is completed, the road will be opened. We hope that all the works will be completed tonight,” Anatoly Bibilov said.
